Sustainability

Sustainability

PLUS ES strives to be a sustainable business. We work safely and responsibly to deliver on our vision for communities to have the power in a resilient, affordable, and sustainable future.

We are committed to continually improving our sustainability performance. PLUS ES’s environment, social and governance (ESG) guiding principles are set out in our Sustainability Policy.

Building the Infrastructure for a Clean Energy Future

At PLUS ES, sustainability is more than a target – it’s embedded in the way we design, deliver, and operate infrastructure. From grid-scale batteries (BESS) to Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure (EVCI), advanced metering, and fibre connectivity, every project we undertake supports Australia’s transition to a net-zero future.

Our Approach to Sustainability

End-to-End Responsibility

As both a delivery partner and an asset owner, we design, build, own, and operate infrastructure with a long-term view, ensuring reliability, efficiency, and environmental responsibility.

Certified Systems

All projects are governed by ISO-certified Quality, Environmental, and Safety systems, guaranteeing compliance and performance from design through to operations.

Sustainable Procurement

We prioritise locally sourced and low-impact materials – recycled concrete, green steel, and circular economy initiatives – to minimise embodied carbon.

Innovation for Impact

Our technical teams continually refine design and commissioning practices to integrate renewable energy, dynamic connections, and advanced energy management.

Battery Storage & Clean Energy

Our leadership in BESS – from 5 MW community batteries to grid-scale systems – directly supports renewable integration, grid stability, and decarbonisation.

EV Charging & Smarter Transport

Through EVCI delivery, we enable cleaner mobility, having deployed more than 200 chargers across NSW.

Fibre & Smart Cities

Our fibre and telco infrastructure reduces reliance on carbon-heavy systems, enabling smarter, greener, and more efficient communities.

First Nations Engagement

We embed cultural respect and participation in our projects, from Supply Nation procurement to apprenticeships and scholarships for First Nations students.

Diversity in Energy

Our “Women in Energy” initiatives promote gender diversity across leadership, mentoring, and trade pathways.

Local Jobs & Skills

Programs like our Bright Sparke Apprenticeship Program create long-term employment and skills development across regional NSW.

Governance & Long-Term Value

Backed by the same long-term institutional shareholders as Ausgrid, PLUS ES combines the stability of investment-grade governance with the agility of a specialised contractor.

Our sustainability model links contractor performance to ESG outcomes, creating accountability at every stage of delivery.
By 2030, we are targeting the delivery of 1 GW of distributed storage, aligning our growth strategy with Australia’s broader energy transition.

Sustainability at PLUS ES

The Board maintains four committees:

Access and Affordability

PLUS ES’s work installing smart meters may help customers save money on their electricity bills by shifting energy consumption to off-peak and solar soak hours. Smart meters can provide near real-time usage readings, helping customers to track and adjust consumption to prevent bill shock, access innovative tariffs that could reduce costs, and avoid estimated reads.
